Reflect on the needs of your soul -->

we were born to create….right?

we were born to create….right?

Stirring within my mind are thoughts of creativity.

This word embraced and accepted by culture and more recently, re-embraced by the church at large.  A personal view naturally, and I pull from various streams of thought, articles read, conversations…not hard data.

Yet I sometimes wonder why this word is also very much rejected.

Some would counter it’s easy for me to ask.  I craft words, play instruments, sing and dabble in other areas {with often little success!} and find the label of creative a friend accompanying me on the journey.  Observers reinforce with approval:

“Oh, you are so creative!”

And I squirm inside, at times willing the gift away :: often feeling plagued by this desire to make, to write, to try something new.

But, aren’t we all? Creative that is. Lest you think this post simply a narrative of personal accomplishments, let me get straight to the point —

Yes, we were born to create.  All of us.

Not just those who startle with exceptional performance in mediums generally accepted by all :: music, art forms and the like.  There is a much broader sense to creativity, a deeper understanding I believe.

So, let’s explore the thought?

Next week, I’ll share a few posts — just some words and opinions, views of this realm often dismissed by those who feel less qualified.  Until then, I leave you with a definition to consider, to ponder ~

“Creativity is a God-given ability to take something ordinary and make it into something special.  It is an openness to doing old things new ways…The creative spirit is part of our heritage as children of the One who created all things.  And nurturing our creativity is part of our responsibility as stewards of God’s good gifts.”
– Emilie Barnes, The Spirit of Loveliness

Grace to your weekend!  Ours is full of the liveliness of guests, family gatherings, birthday celebrations and much more…I will need all of my creative energy to navigate it all (said with a wink)!  Until next week then…
