Welcome readers!
Yes, that’s both the regular blog readers and to those stopping by. In writing this post, I saw there’s not yet been mention of The 2:1 Conference in this space.
Oh my. In particular, how I’m speaking at the next 2:1 Conference April 12-14, 2013.
So today is THE day for making this right. Join me as I share a little?
My Experience at 2:1
Last spring, in serious need of homeschooling encouragement, I wanted to attend 2:1 – a conference for bloggers and/or homeschoolers, but it just wasn’t in the budget.
God moved on my behalf and I won a ticket! Then, a friend offered me hotel stay at no cost! Grateful is an understatement for all I felt. Thank you again, Lord….
The 2:1 Conference was a powerful blessing – a truly filling experience. I learned and laughed, I grew deeper in my blogging and homeschooling journeys, I made connections.
I’m honored to attend again this year as a speaker.

A Little About Me
Honestly, I’m just a everyday Mama like so many of you. Married with 3 girls and 2 boys ages 22 to 3 (yes, that’s right!), my husband and I chose this homeschooling path many years ago. Homeschooling has grown into a lifestyle, much more than a method or curriculum choice.
I’m a voracious reader, herbal tea drinker, wanna-be photographer. I try my hands at many projects and arts, but cooking and time in the kitchen usually wins out. I enjoy great conversations with good friends, and while quiet tends to describe me best… I appreciate humor and a good laugh!
I tend to be wildly eclectic, but deeply committed to home, faith and family. I’d choose being home right now over any other career.
About this Space
I actually began blogging as a way to share our educational adventures with family and friends. Off the top of my head, I chose a name and excitedly got started.
I didn’t know.
I had no idea the paths jotting about recipes or freezer cooking, thoughts on intentional living, or our family ways would lead to. I couldn’t comprehend how kindred spirits could be found across the nation, across the ocean as well as across the street. I’m still in awe of how God has worked.
Domestic Serenity also exists to encourage readers in FOUR areas:
- nurturing your family
- nourishing your soul
- nurturing your home life
- nourishing your body
I invite you back to this space! – friends make the journey so much more enjoyable. You’re welcome to subscribe via email.
What I’m Sharing at 2:1
The 2:1 Conference 2013 theme is Give Him Room — oooh, I love that. Yes, I do.
My breakout session is titled ‘If I Give God Room, Will He Take Up All the Space?’ and you can read my description here. Because really, I believe we often have a heart to do what God asks…
…we’re just afraid. Afraid of the outcome, the process, and a bunch of other stuff we make up! 🙂
But, did you know:
- that God is not afraid of our fear?
- that He speaks to several different types of fear in Scripture…and not all of them are sinful and wrong?
- that we CAN learn to tame our fear-response?
As a homeschooling and kinda-crafty Mama, this session will be a little hands-on and interactive (it’s part of my everyday life)!
You can expect practical steps for moving beyond fear in your homeschooling or writing. Using the acronym FEAR, I hope to offer you heaps of encouragement to take the next step God is whispering into your ear.

Have fun. Your workshop sounds fabulous. I can imagine how much fun you will have! Speaking always makes me want to explode with energy and it is always a blessing to meet so many wonderful people. I’ll be praying for you and all of the women attending the 2:1 conference this year! I’m hoping to make it next year as it just came up on my radar.
I am praying that Yahuah (God) blesses me to be able to go. I so want to go this year! CONGRATULATIONS on speaking!!!
