Winter slows life, makes still,
enforcing pause.
And we want to rush…to move,
to bypass the waiting.
This weekend brought an unexpected stillness to the schedule, an unwelcomed guest at first. Oral surgery bearing more intensity and procedures than anticipated led me to a quietness, in bed, with medication easing the pain.
Stillness.
Pause.
And there, for most of the weekend, I began counting. Slowly. Searching for grace in the midst.
And grace was found. Grace is always found by those who seek.
for the able hands of a surgeon, expertise & care
a sister’s words, calming fears
the ability to purchase necessary medication
my children’s helping hands, big and small
my spouse, my gift from God, and his understanding love
the prayers of the saints, our church community
For my Lord, who weaves whispers of His voice into the noise of pain and fear.
And who slowly, as is often His way, illuminates the grace gifts.
