While it’s true 2012 has slipped away, I’m still gleaning lessons learned….
for last year was one of polar opposites :: incredible highs, overwhelming lows. Through each experience, God demonstrated himself faithful, a mighty-to-save kind of God, who is compassionate and gracious.
“Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.” Lamentations 3:22
Oh, how I love this God.
Stepping into a new year, my heart cry to Him has been for less. Repeatedly in the last several days, this word ‘less’ takes space in my mind, heart and I wonder.
I couldn’t quite make sense of this, since my one word for 2013 is “overflow” — the word I petitioned God to clarify as a focus, a theme if you will for the year. Overflow.
With less God?
Just how does this work?
Then I read my friend Kara’s post…and bit by bit, He speaks to me. Less – to make room for More.
Yes, of course. This makes sense.
While not at all exhaustive of a list, today I hear Him whisper…Less.
less reserve, more leaning in
less fear, more yes-He-can faith
less anxiety & worry, more hope in His ability
less wondering why, more believing it so
less of me, more of Him
I continue to ponder this word ‘overflow’ — in practical, purposeful ways, in spiritual, sacred ways I’m listening. Waiting for God to define, for direction only He can provide.
And you? How do you step into this new year?
I pray for a grace to know, to hear, to see clearly how He leads you.
Happy New Year 2013…
…such a sweet gift to stop in this morning and find this encouragement over here. thank you Daniele.
I love the word He’s nudged into your heart for 2013.
And there is a scary-brave needed for the pause He often allows… if we truly are waiting on “His definition, for the direction that only He can provide:. That is absolutely how I want to, and pray to, live…thankful for your words here.
Hi Daniele, I found your blog by clicking on your excellent comment one day over at Soulemama, and I haven’t been able to stop coming back here ever since. Thank you for taking the time to create this wonderful space. God Bless and happy new year! -Lisa
Welcome Lisa – come back anytime! 🙂
[…] In my life this week… we welcomed the new year quietly (as in, I went to bed!) and accomplished a bit more decluttering. I’m ‘creating empty’ as my friend Jenny would say, slowly making room. […]
