for today :: simple woman’s daybook

It’s been a few months, so time to participate once again in this daybook entry…

Outside my window… It’s early here, still dark.  The neighbor still has Christmas lights twinkling.  I like that.

I am thinking… of new ideas for the new year; practicing patience in waiting until the right timing and season for all things.

I am thankful… for the two-year old snuggled up close; for the typos he’s inserting into this post, for the delete key. 🙂

In the kitchen… hoping to cook up this week some farm-fresh turkey and chicken purchased locally :: pot pie, stock, soup…yum.  Perusing through my favorite cookbooks and finding inspiration for winter meals.

I am creating… a new morning routine for myself.  Participating in the Hello Mornings Challenge beginning next week; setting the clock back a tiny more each day — but just a little bit, I’m not naturally a morning person.

I am going… nowhere today!  Bliss…

I am reading… Free Range Learning for homeschool inspiration; so far, so good.  We finished Kisses from Katie as a family — the children LOVED it!

I am hoping… for snow sometime soon, just enough to make it pretty (don’t let my last post mislead, that was from last  year!)

I am looking forward to… our teen having braces removed!  She’s so excited.

I am learning… a whole lot about apraxia of speech, new sign language and more as we assist our son

A favorite quote for today…

One of my favorite things… is the discovery of Downton Abbey on Netflix! Season 1 was watched over the fall months and season 2 began Sunday evening though I haven’t seen it yet.  I’ll probably have to chop up the two hours over the whole week and watch a little here & there.

A few plans for the rest of the week… establishing our schooling rhythm after a holiday break, spending time in the kitchen

Hoping your day is full of work and rest, beauty and grace.
