I’ve been trying to process all of the richness of last weekend — our church’s annual women’s retreat. A tremendous gathering of spirits and hearts all seeking the same :: room, time and space to connect with one another and with God in a more intentional way.
That journey of allowing the message shared to sink deep down into my spirit will take some time. It’s too easy to hear and as in the parable of the sower, allow the seeds of truth to become choked out.
We talked of rain…
how God’s word is often referred to as water coming down.
As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth…
….so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55: 10-11)
Baby showers. Wedding showers. Card showers.
Do you need a {word} shower today?
A falling down of truth, of living and active words that can lift the spirit?
We give our own words and names :: labeling ourselves, the situations around us and our Savior at times with inaccuracy. Our speaker shared of this tendency to name based on untruth — misbeliefs. And then the label sticks, causing us to believe the ugly messages.
You are inadequate.
Maybe even insignificant.
Definitely lacking.
And the situation in front of you? — impossible.
Too much.
Where is your God?
The remedy for all this is found only in the Word —
only in receiving and applying TRUTH :: relabeling if you will.
a Word shower.
