Winter still could take us by surprise and bring on more snow :: but, we’ve started to anticipate the Spring season anyway!
In light of our studies on Canada (the largest exporter of maple syrup in the world!) and the fact that trees are ready for tapping in our area, we did a mini study on maple sugaring. Isn’t this a delicious way to welcome a fresh season?
First up, we had to make Pioneer Woman’s peach crisp with maple cream sauce. Nope…no pictures. You’ll have to head over to her site for that. Can I say this is really sooo good? And we used last year’s frozen peaches, so fresh would taste better!
But I do have pictures of the maple apple tartlets we also enjoyed in the last several days! Simple and easy, a pleasant sweet.
Along with sampling new maple recipes, a few youtube videos of maple sugaring was on the agenda as well as plenty of good reads. We had intended to participate in a local park’s demonstration on tapping & boiling sap, but didn’t make it. Maybe next year!
